Revature Partners with Women in Technology (WIT)

RESTON, VA, February 20, 2020 – Revature, an industry leader in technology talent development and leading employer of entry-level technology talent in the United States, has partnered with Women in Technology (WIT), the premier professional association for women in the technology industry, to facilitate its latest Mentor-Protégé Program and discuss ways to attract and retain women in the tech space. As part of this partnership, Revature will host 25 women for a series of five events from February to June, providing mentorship and networking opportunities for tech professionals at its headquarters in Reston, VA.

“According to a study from the National Girls Collaborative Project, women make up half of the total U.S. college-educated workforce, but only 28% of the science and engineering workforce – that number has to change,” said Elsa Burns, vice president of recruitment at Revature. “Women continue to be underrepresented in tech – which is why Revature is committed to increasing opportunities, providing support and level the playing field for the next generation of female talent. Our partnership with WIT exemplifies our continued determination to accelerate the number of women in tech through tangible, meaningful work while encouraging more women to enter and stay in the industry.”

The WIT Mentor-Protégé Program offers a five-part series and is conducted by a professional facilitator. Each monthly session explores issues and opportunities facing women professionals today, such as work/life integration, strategic networking, political savvy and executive presence, and communication.

“Mentorship is crucial for introducing women to the wealth of opportunities available to them in the technology industry. We know that women who have the opportunity to network with other women who have successful careers in technology are more likely to pursue a STEM career,” said Carrie Drake, president of Women in Technology. “We thank Revature for helping to facilitate the latest round of our Mentor-Protégé Program and are excited to be partnering with a company that shares our vision of creating opportunities for women in tech.
