From late-night studying in college to pushing resumes and listing references in the real world – adulting is a full-time job. If you recognize the following tell-tale signs of post-grad life, we hope you feel at ease knowing you’re not alone on this crazy road.
1. You’ve often found entry-level jobs that require 2-3 years of experience.
The impossible expectations that some entry-level job descriptions can be daunting. Somehow, in order to get the experience, you need experience. But how can you get experience when you don’t have experience?
2. You’ve questioned what you should do with your diploma.
This means both figuratively and literally.
Figuratively: Your career path doesn’t have to be exactly what you majored in. There are multiple outlets for the knowledge you have gained, making it tough to decide which direction to go in.
Literally: Many times your diploma is mailed to you – often a little wrinkled. So, do you keep it like that? Where do you put the actual diploma? In a box? On a shelf? Frame it?
3. You’ve bent the truth a little.
So, you didn’t list the year you graduated on your resume. You’ll speak up if the interviewer asks. Maybe you embellished a little bit on your skillset like “highly proficient in Excel and Word.” But until you’re hired, there’s no better time than now to freshen up on those skills.
4. There’s no class schedule.
Gone are the days of anxiously waiting on Blackboard at 12 AM to make sure you get all the classes you want. Maybe you planned your class schedule so that you wouldn’t have classes on Friday. That’s more than likely not the case anymore so it may be throwing you for a loop.
5. You’ve heard, “you should travel more.”
It’s common for people to think about how easy it must be for a recent grad to travel. But when it comes to student loans and other expenses, it’s not. Here’s our perfect response to “you should travel more.”
6. Linkedin, Glassdoor, and Indeed are your life.
These sites have become your main social network for professional connections. With constantly checking your inboxes, updating your multiple profiles, and reaching out to recruiters, it can feel exhausting. The time you spend on these sites is probably equivalent to training for a marathon – you’ve got this, though.

7. You’ve thought about a technology career.
Technology is constantly evolving, and that’s hard to ignore. With the fast-growth of innovation and a shortage of tech talent comes strong hiring needs from industry-leading companies.
